The annual Studio Tour on Gabriola Island is a long tradition with the community of artists and art lovers. Visitors come to the island from around Canada's West Coast and beyond to travel around with a tour map meeting artists in their creative spaces and shopping the newest artworks. On this 28th year of the Tour, I will be exhibiting at stop #28 on the map, Sunstone Pottery, as a guest artist with my teacher and mentor, Graham Sheehan. Sunstone is the home production studio where I apprenticed as a young adult to learn the craft and traditional processes of wood fired ceramics.
Studio galleries will be open Saturday. Sunday, and Monday 10am - 5pm

A practice of primitive pottery making in the open air on the beach. We gather tools from the ground for rolling, forming, and decorating. We use our hands and sea water to build beautiful functional wares the same way humans have done for many thousands of years.Open to beginners and experienced ceramicists.

In collaboration with Toronto-based artist, Patrick Cruz, I was commissioned with other potters to translate Viganos Pagburnayan pottery forms into 3-dimensional canvasses for part of Cruz's maximal coverage installation of Step Mother Tongue.

I'm very pleased to be in this show with a most important theme to me, Balance. Although I'm not a new artist, I am still considered to be emerging because I'm broadening my scope of audience beyond my small but supportive locale.
